About me
Kate Pond is a former park ranger and environmental educator turned software engineer, blending a background in ecology with a passion for emerging tech. She’s worked everywhere from the icy blue of Mendenhall Glacier to the bear-filled backcountry of Katmai National Park, and even spent time telling desert plant stories at the Desert Botanical Garden in Phoenix. Kate holds a master’s in Environmental Education from Griffith University in Brisbane, Australia—where she didn’t wrestle any crocodiles, but did deepen her love for connecting people to the natural world through storytelling. After graduating from Ada Developers Academy, she shifted into software development, where she now focuses on AI and distributed systems with an eye toward climate resilience, conservation, and environmental justice.
She’s always happy to talk nature, nerdy tech, or how to make a mean field guide for modern ecosystems—digital or otherwise.
